I missed you!

It's never too late.

And I mean flushed in the non-bathroom sort of way

Weighing my pockets with stones of longing

Especially when those days are Saturday and Sunday.

They always come crawling back

Well here's an update on the shooting situation. We were all a little afraid it would be another Eric Shaw, but I talked to my dad, and here's the scoop:

The North Liberty Chief of Police (guy my mom used to work with) was in Iowa City testifying for something else earlier today, and he was on his way back through Coralville when a motorcycle sped by in the other direction. So he turned around to follow it and clock the speed. The motorcyclist was still speeding, so he turned on his lights and sirens and kept after him. He followed this guy all the way into a residential area and onto a bike path behind the school where Hill's mom works. There the guy got off his bike and tried to run, shouting about how the cop would never stop him. So Chief of Police, having warned the guy several times, sprayed him with pepper spray at close range, getting some in his own face. The guy still wouldn't stop, and he started fighting with the cop. The cop was at a disadvantage of size and strength, and so he hit the guy in the thigh with his club; the guy still didn't stop, and the cop saw that the guy from the motorcycle had a 9 mm semi-automatic stuck in his belt. The cop took his gun away, and the guy ran toward the squad car and got in. The cop was afraid for his life, and worried about what this guy was going to do if he was resisting this much and there was a loaded shot gun easily accessible in the trunk of the car. So he ran over to him and reached in the window, trying to turn off the ignition or switch the gears before the guy could get away. He told the guy if he didn't stop he was going to have to shoot. In the struggle, the shot went in the guy's chest instead of somewhere less risky, and even though he was still conscious when he got out of the car, he didn't make it. Some kids at the school and their supervisor saw the struggle from the playground up the hill. The supervisor was Hillary's aunt. Turns out the guy was a convicted felon, and there was a warrant out for his arrest. Well, that's pretty much all I know. Sounds pretty awful.

That's news.
